Vidya Bhavan provides a caring, loving home and educative, growth mindset and creative habitat for 15 boys (24×7) and a weekend boarding school for another 14-15 girls. While the girls do not live there but with their individual families, the boys are housed within Vidya Bhavan. All 30 kids go to a local neighborhood school (St. Theresa) whose fees are funded by Vidya Bhavan.

It’s easy to guess that all the daily needs of the 15 boys are take care at the Vidya Bhavan orphanage itself, but you wouldn’t guess the next part about the girls – Vidya bhavan provides not only for clothing and study supplies or games but also housing costs, grocery provisions, fruit, books, and 100 other things that kids like you & me require besides school-fees.

Established in 2018 – by Mr. Mohan RN Bosco & Mrs. Shalini Bosco – nurturing & loving leader-couple, who have devoted themselves to assuring and building a bright future for these 30 kids. Mr. Mohan himself came from similar beginnings, while Shalini is a teacher & educator. Both along with their 9-strong team of nurturers, educators, trainers are laser-focused on kids’ immediate and long-term future.

Please, make no mistake, Vidya Bhavan, true to their mission, are helping kids who are orphans, abandoned, neglected and poor. By the way, each kid is encouraged to think about and nurture their ambitions. I while interacting with the kids, learnt that each kid is encouraged to nurture a real dream-ambition focus. It was a delight to meet another Riya there who wants to be a ‘Software Engineer’ (like me). I was floored and totally teary-eyed seeing the pursuit and commitment of Mr. Mohan and Mrs. Shalini, whose smiles and positivity was naturally spreading to each girl and boy. And naturally in their midst my life seemed like full of hopes and purposes and no difficulty seemed significant.

Makkala Mane’ – The Children’s Home – A typical day: The children begin their day by praising God for the gift of another new day. Every day is made useful, productive by learning Yoga, Karate, various Academic subjects, Dance, Music, News and Recreation. The day ends by thanking God for the wonderful day.

I’m beginning to learn more and more about Vidya Bhavan, but let me also tell you about ‘Namma Mane’ – which is an outreach service, to establish learning environment in slums and villages. They run free Tuition centers and ensure that the desire for learning is fostered. Again the belied and mission that “only through education we can bring about the desired change in the society”.
By the way, Vidya Bhavan collaborates with the Government both state and central on many of its projects on child development and Humanity at large. Plus any funds donated to them are Tax exempted (section 80G).
